Description:
Reishi ( Ganoderma lucidum ), known as “Ling Zhi” in China and “Reishi” or “Manetake” in Japan, is a medicinal mushroom prized for centuries for its beneficial properties. Its reddish-brown, shelf-shaped fruiting bodies are among the most sought-after in herbal medicine and natural wellness.
When fresh, the Reishi cap has a soft, corky texture. Unlike many other mushrooms, it has no gills under the cap, but pores through which it releases spores. The color of the pores can range from white to cream to brown, depending on the mushroom's maturity.
Growing Reishi requires patience and experience, so it's recommended for advanced growers or enthusiasts familiar with growing other mushroom species. Despite the challenges, successfully cultivating it is extremely rewarding.
Our Reishi mycelium belongs to a native Italian strain collected in the Roman forests. It is therefore a species that can be grown outdoors, thus eliminating the risk of invasion by non-native species.
