The Absoloutely True Story of How it All Began...

It was the distant year of 2022. Two friends met, and as often happens with the best stories, everything began by chance. It wasn’t a meeting orchestrated by fate, but – as is often the case with the wildest ventures – by one beer too many and a handful of uncertainties jangling in their pockets.

The first was named Cristiano, an alchemist of nature, with a mind always bubbling with ideas and the curiosity of a baby dragon. The other was Riccardo, a forger of flavours, legendary cook of the Shire, and undisputed master of the ladle. It was a night like any other, but the kinds of conversations that start this way often hold the power to change everything.

Between a sip and a laugh, Cristiano turned and said: "What if we grew mushrooms?" The proposal hit the table like Odin’s hammer, shaking the very walls of the tavern. Riccardo, unfazed, answered with the confidence of someone who had already roasted trolls for breakfast: "Let’s do it."

They didn’t have a single gold coin, nor even a half-decent plan, but that hardly mattered. They knew the most important thing would be building something from scratch, with their own hands, without compromise. To do it all themselves, to learn, to fall, and to get back up.

Their first laboratory was nothing more than a dark basement – a forgotten lair, abandoned by elves and disowned by plumbers. Damp, cramped, mouldy, and webbed. There, among sacks, spores, and self-taught spells, they forged their first substrates. They studied mycelium like ancient wizards studied the stars, and with every mistake (and there were many), they grew. And one day, amidst the moss and darkness, the first mushroom emerged. It was crooked, maybe a bit arrogant in posture, but it shimmered with something magical.

From that moment on, it was all work, passion, and discovery. Over time, that tiny lab became a solid reality – a place where every mushroom told the story of the hands that had grown it. Their philosophy remained unchanged: authenticity, quality, and an insatiable curiosity for the fascinating world of fungi.

Today, Growers of Mushroom is one of the most recognized names in Italy for mushroom cultivation and products for enthusiasts. But it’s not just a company.
It’s a community, a lab of dreams and ideas, where something new is learned every single day.

Our mission? To share the wonder of these extraordinary organisms that teach us humility and remind us that nature is always one step ahead.

Because deep down, what drives us is the same spirit that united us on that evening in 2022: the desire to create something unique with our hands, and to share with the world the beauty of what can grow from nothing.
